Mary M. Khambata RN, Nursing Scholarship
This scholarship was created to fund students who are actively enrolled in the RN Program at San Diego City College. The scholarship is in memory of Mary Khambata RN, MHA. Mary worked in Acute Care and OB/GYN Nursing for over 50 years. She worked as an Adjunct Nursing Instructor at the City College Nursing program for 10 years. Her passion for providing care to others was the root of her desire to be a Registered Nurse. She was always helping others whether it was a neighborhood kid that fell off their bike or a relative having surgery. She was ever-present as a Nurse no matter where she was. Once, driving down the road she pulled over to assist a girl who had fallen off her bike and had a mortal wound in her leg. She was compassionate, kind and skilled in helping this girl stay alive until the ambulance arrived. She enjoyed working with the City College Nursing students and they loved working with her. She imparted her knowledge and experience in a lively and compassionate manner. As Mary always said, our City College Nursing students are the future of Nursing. Mary’s family wants to support your path to success in Nursing with this scholarship.
