Nursing - Hoat Le

Professor Hoat Le left Vietnam with his family in 1975 after the fall of Saigon. At Escondido High School, he was one of the top math students in the state. Professor Hoat Le earned his BS degree at Pamona College and his MS degree at Ohio State University. His teaching career in the Math Department began at City College in 1989. In 2005, he was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer and received a stem cell replacement at the City of Hope, a leading cancer research hospital. Professor Le wanted to give back to the Nursing profession for all the support he received during his illness. He passed away March 24, 2015 leaving behind his wife and 16-year old daughter.

The purpose of this scholarship fund is to assist nursing students at San Diego City College in completing their nursing program in two years. This scholarship is for nursing students making satisfactory progress toward completing the nursing program.

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Must be currently enrolled and have been accepted to nursing program at City College in the Fall and Spring of the current academic year
  • 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Must demonstrate strong sense of responsibility to society and health of community

Note: Scholarship recipients and supporters of the Nursing Program and San Diego City College should consider donating back to the scholarship (any amount would be appreciated) after your graduation and employment as a Registered Nurse.

If there is no funding or there are no qualified applicants that reflect this format the scholarship will not be awarded for that year.
